The first workshops and gatherings for equality, led by young people for young people, kick off in Valencia, Lorca, Salamanca, and Toledo as part of the European project 'No Da Igual.'
The equality agents, aged between 16 and 21, have received specific training during a camp in Almería to make an impact on about a thousand young people of their age.
You can now freely download the Guide for Change Agents, with resources and materials for transformative education in equality.
Twenty-four change agents have taken their first steps as promoters of equality among young people of their age, between 16 and 21 years old, within the European project 'No Da Igual.' After the training received at the TOTAlmería camp during July, they are now ready to start training in their environments. They have acquired knowledge on issues related to fatphobia, power relations, gender Islamophobia, good treatment, or representation, and have improved their personal skills in confidence to speak in public and facilitate groups.
The peer workshops will be held in Valencia, Lorca, Salamanca, and Toledo in the coming months, both in youth spaces and educational centers, reaching about a thousand individuals who will have the opportunity to reflect on and learn about the same topics. Additionally, weekend gatherings will be organized in the four locations during which young people can acquire deeper knowledge by addressing gender equality from personal growth, sharing, and reflecting on various experiences.
The learning process of these equality promoters is supported by the Practical Guide - Diary for Change Agents, a compilation of topics, activities, reflections, and resources that is available for download and free use.
No Da Igual, the necessary fight against gender-based violence among young people
A recent investigation by the FAD Youth Foundation and the Ministry of Social Rights and 2030 Agenda confirms that 10% of young people deny the existence or even justify gender-based violence, while femicides continue to rise in Spain. One tool to combat the situation is peer education, in which students become aware by interacting with each other.
The European project 'No Da Igual', promoted by Cazalla Intercultural (Murcia), Jovesólides (Valencian Community), the Plan B Foundation (Castilla y León), and the Kieu Project (Castilla-La Mancha), will run until 2025 with the aim of involving a thousand young people aged 14 to 19 in the fight against gender-based violence and gender inequalities, encouraging them to replicate behavior and coexistence models based on equality.
All didactic materials and resources generated during the development of the 'No Da Igual' project will be published on a MOOC platform, a container for free online courses that has become a globally popular form of online learning based on the principles of open and massive education.
'No Da Igual' is a project for development education and global citizenship funded by the European Union's Citizenship, Equality, Rights, and Values Program. You can follow all the news about the project with the hashtag #QueNoDaIgual on social media.
