Close to a hundred children and women are waiting for the reconstruction of the only school in this village in Taroudant, where around 7,000 people live.
The solidarity fundraising campaign continues, and so far, nearly 12,000 euros have been collected with more than 250 contributions from individuals and organizations.
The boys and girls of the Moroccan village of Agli, one of the communities most affected by the devastating earthquake that struck southern Marrakech on September 8, will be able to return to their classes thanks to the donation of Jovesólides, Casa Marruecos and Coordinadora de Entidades de Solidaridad con África (CESÁfrica).
The solidarity challenge promoted by the three Valencian entities will allow the complete reconstruction of the nursery school 'Jardín de Yemas,' currently managed by the local association Generación Comprometida. This school functions as a childcare center and as a literacy center for local women without resources.
After the earthquake, the students are attending classes in an improvised tent in the village of Agli. The conditions are very harsh due to the cold, rain, and the adversities of an environment destroyed by the natural disaster. They cannot endure much longer in this makeshift tent and eagerly await the reconstruction of the nursery school Jardín de Yemas because it is the only educational resource accessible in the area, as the public school is very distant.
Reconstruction of the Only School in Agli
The nursery school 'Jardín de Yemas' in Agli was founded in 2005. After 18 years of operation, just 8 months ago, it had been restored with the enthusiasm and work of many people involved in the community. The devastating earthquake prevented the facilities from being inaugurated, and they have been completely destroyed as a result of the seismic activity.
The solidarity contributions collected by Jovesólides, Casa Marruecos, and CESÁfrica will be used to reconstruct the two existing classrooms. One was used as a nursery, and the other served for literacy courses for local women.
This will be the first reconstruction project, but it won't be the only one. With the remaining funds raised, we will be able to continue assisting in the reconstruction of the affected area.
Keep donating to contribute to the reconstruction of southern Morocco.
We have already managed to raise 11,643.23 euros thanks to the solidarity contributions from over 250 individuals and the contributions from Ayuntamiento de Olocau; Dones de Manuel; Seminari de Dones Grans; the IES Camp de Túria of Lliria; the Universidad de El Salvador; Casa Camerún; Aquarius Supervivientes and the Valencia CF.
