The European project will run until 2025 in Murcia, Comunitat Valenciana, Castilla La Mancha and Castilla y León. The aim is to involve a thousand young people in learning and awareness-raising processes to eradicate gender-based violence
An expert seminar is being held in Numancia de la Sagra (Toledo) to lay the foundations for training the young beneficiaries who will work for equality
With more than 5,000 complaints, the Comunitat Valenciana is the second autonomous region after Andalusia with the most cases of gender-based violence last year. Victims rise by more than 8% in just one year, according to the INE
The european projectNo Da Igual promoted by Cazalla Intercultural(Murcia), Jovesólides (Comunitat Valenciana), the Fundación Plan B (Castilla León) and the Proyecto Kieu (Castilla La Mancha) has started with an Expert Seminar in Toledo where they have been considering the main thematic and educational ideas that will be dealt with until 2025. The aim is to involve a thousand young people between the ages of 14 and 19 in the fight against macho violence and gender inequalities in order to replicate models of behaviour and coexistence based on equality.
Under-18s are the age group where most have grown up in macho violence, according to data from the Office for National Statistics. With the aim of reversing these statistics, this project has set out to help banish stereotypical macho principles, oppressive gender roles, microaggressions, intimate violence, aesthetic violence and sexism in all areas of life in this particularly interested age group.
The expert seminar in Numancia de la Sagra (Toledo) brought together professionals from different fields to analyse strategic issues such as fatphobia, aesthetic violence, Islamophobia, sexuality or power relations. Various groups of young people aged between 16 and 23 also participated and contributed their experiences and ideas. As a result of this exchange, the two guides were developed, which they will explain in more detail. With the same theme as the expert seminar, both guides have an educational aspect. The first is addressed to professionals working with the young population, while the second is addressed to the population that will benefit from the following stage of this project. On the other side, in the context of the project, it also elaborated a GUIDE FOR FREE SPEECH ON MACHISMO that can be downloaded here: .
The next meeting of No Da Igual will take place next month in July in Almeria, where a summer camp has been organised to train the young people who will later work for equality for their age group. In this framework, they will be given the necessary tools and knowledge to become multipliers, activists and educators. In addition, at the end of the week, this group of young people will lead four cohabitations in their respective regions with others of their age to create safe spaces to share, reflect and grow from an experience that will serve as a deep learning about equality.
All didactic materials and resources generated during the development of the No Da Igual project will be published on the MOOC platform, a container of free online courses transformed into an online learning method on the worldwide web, based on the beginning of open and massive education.
No Da Igual is an educational project for the development and the global citizenship financed by the Citizenship, Equality, Rights and Values Programme of the European Union. You can find all project-related news with the hashtag #QueNoDaIgual on social media.
