In March 2022, the European Union has implemented Article 5 of Directive 2001/55/EC on temporary protection to receive displaced persons fleeing massively from the war in Ukraine, a good news that all human rights defenders and organizations welcome.
However, we note that this measure has never been applied to people who, in similar circumstances, have fled and continue to flee war and its consequences in territories such as Syria, Palestine, Mali, Afghanistan, Sudan, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq and others. In addition, thousands of people arrive daily at the borders of the European Union fleeing from famine, political repression, gender or sexual orientation, climatic causes, belonging to a certain social group...
For all these reasons, a group of citizens and human rights organizations launched the campaign #DirectivaMigraParaTodas, with which we demand the recognition of the rights of migrants and refugees in Spain and Europe.
