Jovesólides recently held a workshop on responsible use of the Internet. The training, carried out within the framework of the Safer Internet program, was aimed, on this occasion, at families in the La Coma neighborhood. The ultimate goal: that children and adolescents can do their homework, enjoy their leisure time and socialize safely in front of screens.
In this training, held at Espai la Coma, a total of eight families interested in increasing their knowledge about digital education participated. Some of the main contents addressed were: how to apply mediation and parental control. Fathers and mothers discovered active and restrictive strategies adapted to each age group.
Digital education is more important than ever. Experts point out that overexposure to screens is harmful to children. Negative consequences: affects language development, reading skills, short-term memory, sleep and attention.
In the workshop there was also a space to learn about digital orphanhood. 'We talked about shareting, phubbing, vamping... The participating families were struck by the large number of different actions linked to the unhealthy use of technology by adults and minors,' says Sara Mesa, the organization's Awareness Raising Technician.
The training also included a discussion on the various ICT addictions: cyberchondria, vibranxiety, grooming, technoaddiction... and how to act when detecting a problem in the use of new technologies.
