The teaching staff and students of the Faculty of Legal Sciences and International Relations of the University of El Salvador (UES), the only public university in the country, now have the first two technological means that will enable progress in blended and online teaching throughout the University. Thanks to the technical cooperation project promoted by Jovesólides in the framework of the Para TIC también programme, two audiovisual and computer resource rooms have been set up in this faculty, which will help to improve the educational quality of the centre and to restore normal teaching in those UES degrees that have not yet been able to resume classes after the pandemic.
The ICT-Lab Teaching room is equipped with audiovisual technology that allows teachers to record dynamic teaching content to support the content of their classes, while the ICT-Lab Student room is equipped with computer equipment that will facilitate students' academic performance and digital skills.
Both laboratories became operational in early October during the visit to San Salvador of a Valencian delegation from Jovesólides, in which IT staff from the Information and Communication Systems Area of the Technical University of Valencia (ASIC-UPV) and the technical team of the UES collaborated.
The implementation of both technological resources strengthens the digital capacities of the Faculty, training teaching staff and students with innovative pedagogical tools that will improve the academic methodology as well as significantly reduce the digital divide among students with limited economic resources. The intention of the UES is to extend this training model to the rest of its educational centres with the aim of promoting blended and online teaching in all of them and to reinforce the quality of education provided by the University.

The Vice-Dean of the Faculty, Edgardo Herrera Medrano, and the President of Jovesólides, Lourdes Mirón Mirón, unveil a commemorative plaque during the inauguration of the ICT Teachers and ICT Buddy laboratories.
During the visit, 30 teachers and 20 students from UES were trained in the use of the resources of both laboratories. In the framework of the technical cooperation project, they were also trained in digital security, anonymity, cybersecurity and responsible use of ICTs together with the library technical staff and the IT department. Previously, they had received training on methodologies in online teaching platforms, virtual education, the programming of blended and online subjects and in the reverse classroom. In the coming months, they will become transformative agents in breaking the digital divide as they will in turn train another 200 students and teachers.
The Valencian delegation's stay in El Salvador has also served to strengthen ties with the country's political and academic authorities. The Jovesólides management team met with Adriana Mira, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Salvadoran government; with Elba Escobar, Director of Cooperation; and with Evelyn Montoya, technician of Bilateral Cooperation with Spain, to whom the results of the project undertaken together with the University of El Salvador were presented. They also had the opportunity to meet with the rector of the UES, Roger Arias, and the Secretary for International Relations, Néstor Hernández.
The Para TIC también technical cooperation project, also developed in El Salvador, is funded by the Regional Ministry of Participation, Transparency, Cooperation and Quality of the Valencian Regional Government.
