Social innovation

Jovesólides is one of the organisations that forms part of the 'Ford Promoting Dreams' project, together with AIPC Pandora and the European University of Valencia. This educational initiative of the Ford Motor Company Fund is committed to improving people's lives, through empowering young students. The end goal: to enable young people to develop their potential and reach their dreams whilst generating a positive social impact on their environment.

How are we working on this project?

Through a hackathon, in which 120 young people were trained to define their social entrepreneurship projects. The three winning teams will be able to make their projects a reality with the help of a mentor and €1,000 of funds for their project. Finally, they will participate in the CampaMAT camp, specialised in art, technology and social change for young people in July 2020.

The unemployment rate of European teenagers increased with the arrival of the crisis and remains very high to this day. Spain has the second highest unemployment rate in the OECD. Faced with this worrying reality, we developed 'Move it', a project whose main objective is to combat youth unemployment in Europe through searching for alternatives, such as self-employment.

How are we working on this project?

Through a week of training which shared the Creative Solution to Social Problems' methodology with workers from six countries. The end goal: to promote citizen participation through political advocacy tables in all countries participating in the project.

Youth online is a project whose main objective is to create an online tool to combat school drop-outs in Europe. Seven partners and social organisations from a total of four countries participate in this project: Hayal, who leads the project, and Bursa Mem, both from Turkey, Learnmera Oy, from Finland, Liceo Scienze Umame, from Italy, and the Sant Gervasi School SCCL, the Polytechnic University of Valencia, and Jovesólides, from Spain.

How are we working on this project?

Through different meetings with the participating organisations in which they address the process and necessary activities to develop this online tool, all through using innovative methodologies.

We contributed towards the social inclusion of refugees and migrants in the European environment and of neighbouring countries. We did this through promoting social entrepreneurship as a tool for change. The end goal: to raise awareness amongst young citizens, to improve their participation and cooperation in welcoming processes.

How are we working on this project?

Through different international meetings, we promoted awareness of social entrepreneurship through gamification. The active role of young people in the resolution of social problems is encouraged; and this group is encouraged to create leading proposals addressing the reception of refugees and migrants. The countries participating in this project have been: Jordan, Greece, Turkey and Spain.

In times of growing radicalisation in Europe, we seek to stop extremism through gamification with this project. We work in collaboration with four other european organisations, from Italy, Portugal, Poland and Spain, in order to create a culture of peace.

How are we working on this project?

Through this project, Jovesólides has been responsible for the training young workers in each country, so that they design the urban games' methodology collaboratively. Following this training, each country developed their training package.

The main objective of this project has been to generate a positive and integrating outlook towards migrants and refugees. It has been to achieve a more inclusive society through increasing social awareness among young European people too.

How are we working on this project?

Through the design and application of social innovation tools, based on gamification. We have, in fact, produced a game with the same name as the project. The final goal of the methodology and of the game is to generate spaces for debate, constructing and generating proposals for the social integration of the migrant/refugee population.

The fourth edition of the International Forum of Social Innovation took place during December and the aim was to create a space for encouraging social change in the world. In 2019, under the slogan 'Migration: tuning in to restart the system', it focused on how social innovation can be constructive for one of the XXI century's main challenges: migration. Those attending were protagonists in a creative and dynamic constructive process, developed through innovative methodologies.

How did we work on this project?

Through presentations by experts on various topics, carrying out a gigalab, a speed-networking event that enabled more than 20 startups from different fields to be discovered, as well as a space called 'I take the word', aimed at making more than 20 testimonies of migrants that are already changing the world visible.
