Hi! My name is Isabel Segura, I am 25 years old, and am currently finishing my studies: Master of Employment and Labour Market Intervention at the University of Valencia. I consider myself a cheerful, dynamic, optimistic and ready to help whenever I can.
I confess that at first I did not know about JOVESOLIDES and all the important work that they are doing in this organization. Because of that, my arrival here happened almost by coincidence; when I became interested in the work, looking for information, I was more interested in everything that they have done. I enjoyed the most the confidence they have had in me.
I could practice what I have studied in theory at university. I have had the opportunity to support a Service for Employment offered to people from neighbourhood La Coma Paterna.
There, many people are at risk of social exclusion with many needs. They are living in a very different reality than many of us lucky ones. We have things that we consider basic, such as a computer or Internet. Many of them totally discouraged while seeking for employment need an orientation tour to know how to respond to the needs of the labor market in which we find ourselves.
Related to this, I have participated in making contents of two guidebooks; one which explains step by step the services offered by the Telecenter, a place where I spent my practice hours, helping those people from the neighborhood that needed to obtain official documents or just help in using computers. The other guide is geared to employment, in order to raise public awareness of the importance of motivation in seeking and getting a job; a basic guide that I consider essential.
I was responsible for a presentation about work given to 17 students of the Dominican College. Students were aged 15 to 17. With them, I shared a basic presentation of the labor market, such as making a resume, a cover letter, the importance of technologies and social skills, etc. I enjoyed it very much.
I could also participate in the EmpoderaT project, which is a course where people are encouraged to take risks when seeking employment. I was putting focus on the importance of having email, performing job search tools, etc. A very interesting project, with motivating and important clues to confront, as mentioned above, the job Market in which we find ourselves.
It causes special attention because of the dynamics that follows from the participation, enthusiasm and the desire which arouses. In addition to the course itself I was responsible to make individual interviews with each of the participants; where we detected which were skills that we consider important in future real interviews. It was definitely a project that fits perfectly with my profile that I want to develop.
Without forgetting the whole team, colleagues and wonderful people who are willing to help, teach and motivate all those people who need it, you're great!
I want to encourage all the people to become a part of this organization, adding that you learn, have autonomy and that you will achieve your goals with the trust that they have in you.
