Yesterday, on the 26th of February, the Jovesólides association brought over 150 children from three school centres together in Elche in the 'La Caja Meeting'. A space for reflection and construction where young people, teachers and political authorities shared a space to find solutions to social problems.
The participants, aged between 11 and 16, discovered and became aware of social problems such as: political asylum, gender violence, the environmental crisis and problems in the field of education.
The youngest participants were the true protagonists in this project. They generated ideas to transform the world. With everything they have learned, they have acquired a more active role in society, with more empathy and respect for differences.
Since 2016, more than 800 young people in a total of 15 educational centres have left 'La Caja'. A programme aimed at promoting their active role in society through understanding the Sustainable Development Goals. Furthermore, 'La Caja', developed in Valencia, Castellón and Alicante, has benefitted from the collaboration of more than 20 social entities for their 'Stories with soul'.
This latest edition is being developed with the support of the Valencia Region's Department for Social Responsibility, Participation and Cooperation, the Valencian NGDO Coordinating Committee and Caixa Popular.
