With the aim of strengthening entrepreneurship and social innovation among the youth of Cartagena, we celebrated the I Foro Cartagena Empodera y Emprende last 1 June with around 200 assistants and more than 100 representatives of different actors of the associative fabric of the Departamento de Bolívar. The main objective of this event is to promote a constructive and productive dialogue between the different actors in society on the situation of unemployment and marginalisation of youth, addressing enterprise and social innovation as alternatives and solutions to create new business opportunities.
This forum was the right place to present the activities and impact of the Social HUB project, a cooperation project that has entered its final phase with the closing event at I Foro Cartagena Empodera y Emprende. From the end of Social HUB they take out relevant statistics such as the 71% participation of women and 29% of men, of whom 83% were nationals and 17% migrants.
The project managed to reach 204 young people, train 30 teachers and young technicians, support 46 young people with a specialised coaching service, and bring together 68 representatives of institutions, NGOs, universities, public bodies, community leaders and other participants, with the intention of drafting clear offers in corporate materials expressed in a document to strengthen social engagement in the Colombian city with a regional perspective.
In addition, it is worth highlighting that the event was attended by around 200 employees and more than 100 representatives from various stakeholders in the Departamento de Bolívar's associational fabric, including representatives from the Secretariat of the Hacienda de la Alcaldía de Cartagena, the Cámara de Comercio de Cartagena de Indias, the Fundación Universitaria Tecnológico Comfenalco and the Corporación Universitaria Rafael Núñez, to name but a few.
This was the I Forum 'Cartagena Empordera y emprende', in Colombia
Presentations with added value
The opening of the Forum took place at the invitation of the President of the Jovesolides Colombia Foundation, Marlon Contreras, who expressed that the central idea of the meeting 'was to create scenarios and activities that allow the different actors to network, influence, strengthen and build unique ecosystems of inspiration and development between sectors in order to strengthen enterprise and social innovation in all the strengths they bring to the work that is crucial every day for Colombian youth, who find themselves in a situation of unemployment and marginalisation'.
Afterwards, the President of Jovesolides España, Lourdes Mirón, explained that social innovation in Europe is characterised by cooperation between different actors, including non-governmental organisations, companies, local governments, academics and citizens. These alliances aim to harness the knowledge, resources and experience of each sector to develop holistic and sustainable solutions. In this regard, the experience of Jovesolides España has told that it has been working in camps such as international cooperation for more than 20 years.
In addition, Boutaina El Hadri, the managing director of Jovesolides España, has also spoken out, stating on their behalf that social engagement is also political engagement. Therefore, she took advantage of the situation to present the project of the Movimiento Político Fuerza Migrante, which was founded 8 months ago with the intention of bringing migrants together to form a common front in the struggle against the violation of the rights of migrants, migrants with a migrant background, racialised, refugees and stateless people in the Spanish state.
The Vice-Director of the Fundación Universitaria Colombo Internacional, Dr. Álvaro Morales, praised the objective of the existing agreement between the institutions and affirmed the support of the academic world, which is involved in the training processes for the enterprise of its students through institutional mechanisms of cooperation.
This shows that the contribution of the Doctorante en Administración UBJ México, Samuel Brunal Ramos, results from his performance as a management consultant. In his lecture, he highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence, stressing that this form of AI is one of the most advanced and is already being used in reality for commercial or business purposes to quickly process large amounts of data and make it understandable to humans. All of this, according to Brunal, allows for more accurate and faster analysis of data as it is incorporated into the production process and identifies employers or anomalies in the operation.
Carlos Olascoaga, on the other hand, who has a Master's degree in Corporate Social Responsibility and experience in social project management in the Caribbean, spoke about the issue of youth engagement and empowerment. In his contribution, Olascoaga made it clear that we are all political subjects. 'What makes the transition from the professional politics of a few to the participatory politics of all necessary is the knowledge of the relationship between power and participation,' commented the speaker, who added that 'in the course of our lives, we all have to take on this management quota of power in common profit.'
Aracelly Peña Serrano, General Director of Jovesolides Colombia, closed the event by highlighting the link between the company and innovation in the youth of Cartagena. He also underlined the importance of the agreements for future announcements and thanked each of the staff for their active participation in this type of space, which gives visibility to the articulated work and interest they develop in support of the youth of Cartagena and strengthens the business ecosystem of the city by improving conditions for youth and their families. This big event has been organised by Jovesólides España, Jovesólides Colombia, Conviventia and Unicolombo in the context of the project of coopration SOCIAL HUB.
