The Generalitat awards the Amparo Moreno Vañó Prize for Innovation in Social Services to E-spai for its work in training, assistance and digital inclusion.
It has become a community space for coexistence, a point of reference for residents of this inclusive neighbourhood. In 2022, it served 1,200 users and trained around 200.
One hundred residents from La Coma de Paterna took part in the intercultural Christmas celebration organised by E-spai and Kumpania in the assembly hall of the old market in the neighbourhood. Families who attended enjoyed a musical performance from the 'Descandar Group', various fun activities, a delicious snack and surprise gifts distributed for everyone.
During the celebration, prizes were also awarded for the Christmas card competition, which stood out this year for the originality and creativity of the entries.
Espai La Coma, which offers free social care services and technological assistance as well as training in order to improve employability, has just received the Amparo Moreno Vañó Award for Innovation in Social Services in the Valencian Community from the Vice-President of the Generalitat and Regional Minister for Equality and Inclusive Policies.
In 2022 alone, 1,200 people were assisted and 1,551 technological assistance services were provided. Nearly 200 residents of the neighbourhood have received training in literacy and digital signature, basic and advanced computing, social photography, active job search, conflict resolution, customer service and administrative tasks.
Since its launch in 2004, Espai La Coma has changed the lives of hundreds of people who were at risk of social exclusion. It has become a community space for intercultural and intergenerational coexistence. Celebrations for Christmas, summer, Women's Day, Roma Day, the end of Ramadan or the sports days have become traditional, bringing together neighbours of all ages with social organisations, reclaiming diversity and coexistence in the heart of this neighbourhood of preferential action in Paterna.
Sport and art are regularly used as tools to stimulate social and educational inclusion and boost the regeneration of community links in the neighbourhood by both E-spai La Coma and Kumpania. In recent years, the participation and involvement of the neighbourhood's younger community has been outstanding. Children and teenagers who are part of the Kumpania and Nala socio-educational programmes have joined these activities with their families. A few months ago, the Chair of Sports Studies of the Technical University of Valencia awarded the Sport and Citizenship 2022 Prize to the socio-educational improvement project aimed at children and adolescents in the La Coma neighbourhood of Paterna, in recognition of its social innovation through sports practice.
