This week the school year has started in Paterna and shortly the Kumpania team will begin to develop the socio-educational care service, focussing on infancy and adolescence of the La Coma neighborhood. The return to classrooms arrives with less uncertainty caused by the pandemic and with a renewed enthusiasm to carry on working towards the success of the students.
A year later, the multidisciplinary team of trainers have put together a complete, diverse and creative plan. And this contains actions amongst which stand out: the elaboration of a personalized timetable for each boy, girl, or teenager, working with and monitoring the educational centre with the family.
What's more, like every year the team of educators will encourage healthy habits and educational leisure. And within the yearly calendar, special attention will be directed towards the teaching of equality, interculturality and diversity, an essential thing in a neighbourhood with 70 different nationalities. Last year, students had the opportunity to approach the reality of Palestine, learn what the overproduction of clothing means, what discrimination the gypsy community continues to face and the importance of bees in our ecosystem, and what Ramadan is really about.
Additionally, this year, the Kumpania team is going to make an important commitment to introduce the Montessori method, increasingly used day-to-day in many public Spanish state schools. A way of teaching which according to experts, lets boys and girls develop with liberty, autonomy and at their own pace. The first step will be to transfer the work space, converting it into a more open, organised and simple space...'where each section is made for the development of children'. The idea is that an apparent small change promotes independence in the students and the learning process. The Montessori method also advocates that 'liberty and self-discipline makes it possible for any child to find activities that respond to their evolutionary needs'.
This will be the third year marked by the coronavirus and the development of all classes, timetables, and activities will be carried out ensuring all methods of hygiene, prevention, and anti-Covid 19 security are maintained.
