Se Buscan Gigantes, politics and social activism to change the world

Se Buscan Gigantes | Nearly 1,400 young people from 50 Valencian schools defended their proposals for social change before some twenty public authorities.

Se Buscan Gigantes project, promoted by Jovesólides since 2020 to promote activism committed to human rights among Valencian youth, has reached 1,360 young people and adolescents from 65 educational centers in its first three editions.

With an approach based on the promotion of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 65 training and awareness laboratories have been held in classrooms of fifty schools in Valencia, Alicante and Castellón. During these workshops, students work on their own proposals for improvement in strategic areas for the future of humanity such as equality, racism, Islamophobia, the mobility model, climate emergency, renewable energies or ocean pollution, among others. They then prepare to publicly present their proposals for change and to defend them before the competent political authorities in each area.

Thus, throughout the three editions of Se Buscan Gigantes 20 political authorities have participated in the meetings with students, such as the general director of Inclusion and Cooperation, Pedro Carceller; the ex president of the Corts Valencianes, Enric Morera; the Mayor of València, Joan Ribó; the general director of Cooperation, Clara Tirado; the popular deputy Marisa Gayo; the councilor for Equality and Feminism of Burjassot, Yolanda Andrés, among others.

In addition, the project has also had the involvement of relevant climate, anti-racist and human rights activists such as Marta Borrell, Laura Reboul, Hind El Fandli, Fatine Sakri, Joanna Giménez or Amer Sweis, who have inspired young Valencians with their example and experiences.

Se Buscan Gigantes | Throughout the three editions, 20 political authorities and as many activists have participated in the meetings with students.

The Consell Valencià de la Joventut has selected the project Se Buscan Gigantes as an example of good practice in awareness and advocacy. During the Post Z Youth Policy Congress, organized by the Valencian Youth Institute in 2022, the impact of the project has been presented to an expert audience.
