For Jovesólides, volunteering is much more than a one-off action; it represents a constant commitment to the community. As we close this year, we would like to express our gratitude to all the people who have been an active part of our initiatives, because thanks to their time, dedication and empathy we have managed to foster solidarity, learning and social commitment. Through different activities, we have worked together to build a more united, inclusive and supportive community, demonstrating that every action, no matter how small, can have a positive impact.
Throughout the year, we have carried out various activities that have made a significant difference, strengthening our commitment to social welfare.
Generación Valores has been one of the most outstanding programmes, focused on promoting active ageing and combating unwanted loneliness. This programme has brought the elderly closer to new experiences, knowledge and resources, through activities such as training in technology, meetings in the neighbourhoods and telephone support, achieving a positive impact on many lives.
For example, within the Conecta-T area, we have collaborated with Red Espai TIC, supporting the elderly in the accompaniment of electronic administrative procedures, which has allowed them to access public services in a more accessible and efficient way.
In addition, we have worked closely with the Miguel Hernández University (UMH) on training projects that raise students’ awareness of the importance of volunteering and social commitment. This effort opens up opportunities for young people to become directly involved in the voluntary sector, fostering a closer relationship between universities and the community.
Face-to-face workshops have been another essential pillar of our activities, creating spaces for learning and strengthening ties. On Older People’s Day (1 October) we celebrate the older people in our community, promoting volunteering as a way of valuing the legacy and experience they have passed on to us.
Also, on 16 April, we were present at the inauguration of the Casa del Voluntariado, an event that symbolises the collective effort and our commitment to the community.
And this year we are in luck, as Jovesólides has been distinguished with the Volunteering Award by the UPV, a recognition that values our promotion of senior volunteering. This award reflects the effort, dedication and commitment that guide our actions, and motivates us to continue moving towards a more inclusive and supportive society.
We cannot forget that, in difficult times such as those we experienced this year with the DANA, thousands of families were affected, many of them losing everything they had. In the face of this adversity, the solidarity of our community shone through. People of all backgrounds, religions and skin colour selflessly came together to give support, demonstrating that the spirit of volunteerism transcends any differences and goes beyond the institutional.
Jovesólides would like to acknowledge and thank all the people whose collective effort was exemplary. This gesture of unity reminds us that, when we work together, we are capable of overcoming any difficulty. Their help is an inspiration and a clear example of what we can achieve by joining forces for the benefit of those who need it most.
Volunteering has a direct impact on the people who receive it, but also on those who volunteer. Over the years, we have seen how participation in our activities has allowed many people to feel that their voice is heard and that they have an active role in the community. Each action carried out creates bonds of empathy, understanding and respect that strengthen the social fabric.
For Javi, a Jovesólides volunteer, the experience has been deeply gratifying: ‘The experience as a volunteer has been very satisfying, as the human group in the association has always been by my side to accompany me’. This testimony reflects how mutual support among volunteers is key to building a strong and committed community.
Similarly, Benzema shares: ‘My experience has been very successful. I have met people, helped others and generated social benefit’. These testimonials highlight how volunteering not only transforms the lives of those who receive support, but also enriches those who offer it, reinforcing the spirit of solidarity and positive change in the environment.
At Jovesólides, we believe that every small gesture counts and that every hour spent volunteering is a step towards a more inclusive and supportive world. Volunteering not only transforms the lives of those who receive support, but also enriches those who practice it, promoting values such as cooperation and empathy, and strengthening the social fabric.
That’s why we invite more people to join this network of solidarity: no matter how big or small your action is, your participation makes a difference. From day one, we will accompany you so that your experience is enriching and transformative.
The Generación Valores programme is financed by the Vice-presidency and Regional Ministry of Social Services, Equality and Housing of the Generalitat Valenciana with the 0.7% allocation of personal income tax in the Valencian Community.
