The Jovesolides association met last Friday, June 1, in Albal, more than 200 children from 6 schools in the 'Encuentro La Caja'. A space for reflection and construction where young people, teachers and representatives of public administration have shared space to find solutions to social problems.
'La Caja', developed with the financial support of the General Directorate for Cooperation and Solidarity of the Generalitat Valenciana and the City Council of Valencia, is a pioneering project in Spain in which young people have been working with sensitivity and awareness of social problems linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Today this project has been closed with a meeting aimed at promoting the active role and social commitment of the youngest through political advocacy tables. For more than three hours young people, teachers and a score of political authorities have reflected together on social problems, have sought solutions and have even shaped them through creative prototyping.
Discovery of other realities, awareness
During this year more than 200 children, aged between 11 and 16 years, have discovered and become aware of social problems such as: political refuge, gender violence, environmental crisis or problems in the field of education .
The Caja, one more year, has had two differentiating elements that make it especially innovative as a project.
