Jovesolides and the Vodafone Spain Foundation will collaborate one more year, giving workshops on the use of mobile phones and tablets, aimed at elderly people. 'Mayores Movilizados', which fights against the digital divide, with this seventh edition is consolidated as one of the leading programs in training new technologies adapted to the elderly in the Community of Valencia and the Region of Murcia.
Its close methodology and its practical contents have reached all types of institutions, centers, programs and services for the elderly, facilitating the acquisition of digital skills.
These training activities will be developed in the Valencian Community and in some localities of the Region of Murcia, and it is expected that 3 500 people will benefit from the almost 200 activities that will be taught in coordination with: town halls, activity centers for the elderly, the network of Care Centers for the Elderly of the Generalitat Valenciana, and the public universities of the Valencian Community. Registration in the courses is free and open to the entire population over 50 years. The corresponding diffusion will be made in the different participating centers.
One of the main novelties of the program is the introduction of a new application in the training, aimed at stimulating the memory of the elderly. Because, as recommended by the World Health Organization, training cognitive skills is essential to maintain or improve the quality of life. And in this sense new technologies and mobile devices today provide many opportunities to improve these skills.
